We built Enquiry, a form backend for website contact forms
Enquiry emails your website's contact form submissions to you, with file uploads, spam filtering and an autoresponder. Signup is now open, with a 14-day free trial.
Most small business websites are static: fast, cheap to host and hard to break. The one thing a static site can’t do on its own is send you an email when someone fills in your contact form. Something has to receive the form and pass it on.
So we built Enquiry, a form backend run by Bromputers. It receives the submissions from your website’s forms and emails them to you, with file uploads, spam filtering and an autoresponder.
Why we built it
Every site we build has at least one form, and some clients need more than a name and a message. A bridal boutique wants moodboards, a builder wants photos of the job, an accountant wants documents. We wanted something that handles file uploads, keeps spam out of the inbox and sends the visitor a “we’ve got your message” reply, without paying for a premium plan on someone else’s service for each client.
The contact form on bromputers.co.uk already runs on it.
What it does
- Emails each submission to you, with Reply-To set to the visitor, so you can just hit reply
- File uploads: photos, scans and PDFs, up to 10 MB each and 5 per submission, checked by their content and not just their name
- Spam protection: a hidden honeypot field, a spam score, a list of websites allowed to post, and Cloudflare Turnstile or hCaptcha if you want a captcha. Anything caught waits in a spam folder, so a real enquiry is never lost
- An autoresponder that lets the visitor know their message arrived
- A dashboard with every submission, search and CSV export, and up to a year of history
For developers
Your form needs two changes: its action points at Enquiry, and a hidden field carries your access key.
<form action="https://enquiry.bromputers.co.uk/submit" method="POST">
<input type="hidden" name="access_key" value="YOUR_ACCESS_KEY">
<input type="text" name="name" required>
<input type="email" name="email" required>
<textarea name="message" required></textarea>
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>
It takes ordinary form posts, file uploads and JSON, and answers with a redirect or a JSON response. It uses the same field names as Web3Forms, so moving a form across is a one-line change. Everything else is in the docs.
Update, 2 November 2026: signup is open
Self-serve signup opened on 30 October, with a 14-day free trial. Pricing is a single plan: £8 a month or £80 a year in the UK, VAT included (US$10 or US$100 elsewhere, before tax), with 10,000 emails a month, unlimited forms and websites, file uploads and the autoresponder included. Common questions
What is a form backend?
A service that receives what visitors type into a form on your website and emails it to you. Static websites have no server of their own to do that, so they need one.
Does Enquiry work with any website?
It works with any site where you can set the form's action address and add a hidden field, including static sites built with Astro, Eleventy, Hugo or plain HTML. It also accepts JSON, so JavaScript forms work too.
Can visitors attach files?
Yes. JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, AVIF and PDF files, up to 10 MB each and 5 per submission by default. Files are checked by their content, not just their name.
How much does Enquiry cost? Is there a free plan?
There is one plan: £8 a month or £80 a year in the UK, VAT included (US$10 or US$100 elsewhere, before tax), with 10,000 emails a month. There is no free plan, but every account starts with a 14-day free trial.
Can I move my forms from Web3Forms?
Yes. Enquiry uses the same field names as Web3Forms, so moving a form is a change to its action address and access key. The docs include a guide to moving from Web3Forms.
Who runs Enquiry?
Bromputers, a family-run web and software studio in Bromley, South East London. We use it for our own website and our clients' sites.
